Nic K, Bus Disaster Survivor!

January 31, 2008

This may just be a rumor, but I heard Nic Kazamia got hit by a bus on Tuesday night. The bus ran straight over him but didn’t crush him and he’s back at work today. This sounds totally ridiculous and unlikely, but as an aficionado of the bizarre and unlikely I’ll believe anything.

In his honor, I’m posting a bunch of old cruise ship pictures from 2004 that he requested to see a week or 2 ago.

My ship during an 11 day dry dock we spent in Victoria, BC. The deck with the windows, just below all the balconies is Deck 7. Deck 14 is the top deck/dining area (there is no 13 it’s bad luck), and there’s some smaller decks above that like where the tennis court is, so I think it goes up to Deck 17. My room was on Deck 3, Deck 4 is the floor they start having windows at. Mexican and Filipino kitchen workers lived on Deck 1.

1000 crew members, and 2000 passengers.

View passing through the Panama Canal.

Happy Birthday Cuntface

This is also from May 8th, 2005; Nick Bechard’s 27th birthday. Jean Clary is Ian Clary’s mom, the guy that played in Wonkavision with me and Nick in highschool, and worked at Staples with me.

Friends only post since Ian still reads this journal. Here’s his current blog.

Chris Redman showing his glass eye at Matt Beneteaus house May 8th, 2005. I don’t know what he’s like about it now, but Chris would never ever ever ever ever take out his eye in front of people back then because he didn’t want to be known as the guy who takes out his glass eye at parties. (He was however, okay with being known as the guy with the giant scrotum that he’d pull out and show people like a giant bag of marbles.) He did let me take a bunch of pictures this one day though and I’ve never posted them anywhere.

He plays guitar in a band called Terminal Wallys now.

More Swag

January 30, 2008

I’m the guy at our office that happily takes everything nobody else wants. They may make fun of me for taking all the Calvin Klein “MAN” samples that came in, but hey I like smelling good for the ladies and it’s freeeeee!

This old bottle of Swiss Army Altitude isn’t swag. I think I bought it at Brayden’s old store the Towne Shoppe in Windsor in 2001. It goes in the swag post since it’s the only other bottle of cologne I own.

Jeff Watts gave me the Swiss Army knife when I was in 6th grade. I’ve had it all these years and I only recently lost the tweezers. I repaired the broken side with crazy glue from the dollar store on Sunday.

I got all these dvds from the Dollar Store a few doors down from our office. So far I’ve watched Fathers Little Dividend, Tulsa and Call Of The Wild.

This cartoons dvd is also from the Dollar Store. I’ve watched the whole thing and it’s amazing. I’d never heard of Cool McCool before. I think it was made by the same people who made Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Yvette from Mint Records dropped off this Nardwuar dvd last week. I haven’t watched it yet but she gave me his other dvd last year and I love it. I’ll probably watch it tonight.

Steph Hynes from Sony BMG gave me a bunch of promo stuff last month including this Trapped in the Closet DVD. I’m a bigger fan of his album Double Up than I am of this stuff, but it’s still great.

All 3 of these albums are amazing. The Songs Of Leonard Cohen, Songs From A Room, and Songs Of Love And Hate. Get them, listen to them, love them.

I don’t understand how I got this but someone I’d met a couple months ago from a PR Agency sent me a message asking if I wanted this Motorola ROKR phone. It has a half decent camera in it, a 2gig memory card and plays mp3s. I still haven’t switched my service to it yet but I’m stoked to start using it.

Streetcarnage is Hottt.

I recently dug these trophies up from my parents house. I didn’t bother scanning the medals I have, but these are all but one of the trophies and plaques. These are all from 1992 or before, so I guess that means those were the peak years of my life.

I was Stockader of the Year 3 years running at Walkerville Baptist Church’s Christian Service Bridage. I lost out winning Stockader of the year in 1986-87 by 10 points which is for 1 Achievement! I was so close!

These trophies are for Kite Flying in 1986 and 1987. I almost made it to the Canadian Olympic Kite Flying Team, but once I got involved with Bible Quizzing I sort of lost my passion for Kite Flying.

The third trophy was some kind of Academic award for the 1991-1992 academic year in 8th grade. I don’t know how that happened since I was always a B+ student, but I was Valedictorian that year!

The last one is also from 1992, from the World Bible Quizzing Association Championships in Indianapolis. I was on the “dream team” from Detroit, with 4 of the other best quizzers in the league. We won first prize! The lady’s wing got broken at my new years party this year. Somebody took it from my room and I found it downstairs in our living room broken.

What’s the weirdest trophy, medal, plaque or award you’ve ever won?
