The Tipping Point

March 31, 2008

I woke up this morning to Brayden calling me to come to my backyard and see what his dog Putty had gotten into. We spend the next half hour cutting burrs out of his fur, but Brayden is bringing him to a dog hair cutter tomorrow.

I went to see Malcolm Gladwell and Adam Gopnik debate about Canadian culture with Alex and her dad.

It was billed as a debate but it seemed more of just a promotional tour for the speakers and Macleans Magazine. The topic is so vague it allowed them to just tell anecdotes and jokes involving Canada, and then tried to relate it to them being really successful authors and journalists who live in NYC but were born and raised Canadian. It was good times though, they kept the pace up pretty well, and they said a few thought provoking things. I’d say it was a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Malcolm Gladwell looks like a cross between Derrick Beckles and my Grandma on my moms side of the family.

I went to an offset printing seminar in Mississauga yesterday. I learned a bunch of stuff about printing and they gave me a certificate at the end of the day which I’ve taped up on the wall next to my desk at work. I feel much smarter today.

My sister, Blair Warner

March 26, 2008

For awhile I’ve been meaning to post this comparison of my sister to Lisa Welchel, who was in the Mickey Mouse club and played a prissy bitch named Blair Warner on the 80’s sitcom, the Facts of Life. From what I heard, when my sister was in highschool people referred to her as Blair Warner when she wasn’t around. It fits. This family photo was taken in 1984, the same year this cassette was released.

I remember her listening to this tape a lot when I was in the 2nd grade, and she was in 8th grade. Whenever she talks at me, it’s like we’re in the TV, traveling back in time.

You can download ALL BECAUSE OF YOU, Lisa Welchel’s 1984 Christian rock album by clicking here.

We Made Gawker!

March 25, 2008

This is getting huge, and this issue isn’t coming out for another 2 weeks. I did the production on the VICE end of this project. I’m framing the cover and putting it at the top of my resume. The ultimate sellout move! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I wonder how long it will take BMW to figure out who the cover model Sasha Grey is. (NSFW)

The original article from Media In Canada is getting a ton of hits too.

UPDATE (6:45pm) – BMW now knows who Sasha Grey is. Shit has hit the fan and they are pissssssed. Oh well, they signed off on it, we’re getting paid. We whored out the cover and put a whore on the cover.

Ferreira Photography Display Photos 2

March 25, 2008

Remember that photography studio I posted about in January that I thought might be a front? They changed their display photos. This proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are not a front.

I like their new work so much I decided to have them fix an old photo for me, with their official sweater that goes in all the new photos.
