Wednesday night was a packed house at Supermarket for the Noah’s Arkweld cd release. I first met Noah 3 years ago when I hired him to master the VICE sampler cds that go out with subscriptions. He was a member of the band hHead in the early 90’s, but is maybe most well known for audio mastering albums by bands like Death From Above 1979, Broken Social Scene and Cuff the Duke. Songs From A Room had him master their most recent ep.

The new cd is 9 songs that were written and recorded over the past 2 years. It’s a quiet and catchy rock album with the songs averaging about 2 minutes long. I’ve already listened to it 5 times in the past couple hours. I think my favorite song is “Small Fires”.

I stayed in cleaning last night and found another stash of my old ticket stubs from highschool.

Laurence Lessig was a guest on the Colbert Report last night talking about his new book, Remix. Current US copyright laws (which they try and enforce on the rest of the world) are outdated and make no sense as public policy. A little more than 10 years after Napster was a hot topic, it’s about time to update the laws and figure out some new business models.
