Songs From 159 Manning

March 25, 2010

This past Tuesday I put together a solo record of 12 recordings I did last year on my iphone 4track and Fostex 8-Track. The 12 songs are a collective length of just over 17 minutes.

It’s a limited edition release of 12 physical copies, but you can download an mp3 version of the album here.

Manning Studio B

March 21, 2010

The Ten Dollar Tales premier at the Revue Cinema was a hit! The place was packed out, and I brought my dad as my +1 to see my big screen debut! It was the first time he and I have EVER gone to a movie theater together. There was an afterparty across the street at the River Restaurant and he bought me a beer which was another first!

My dad and I spent the day yesterday, and the morning today working on upgrades and changes to the studio in the basement of 159 Manning. My dad and I working on building projects together related to my creative pursuits has been a relatively consistent activity in my life.

The rack-mount I got for free from craigslist last week is a bit to high to stand upright.

You can see what the studio used to look like at the very bottom of this post here.

Adrienne made a new Murdershed trailer today.

Mohawk Lodge and Eamon McGrath European Tour

March 19, 2010

I’m excited to be heading out across Europe for a month starting May 15th playing bass for Ryder Havdale’s band The Mohawk Lodge, in support of the new album Crimes! I’ve been listening to it a lot over the past few weeks and I think it’s Ryder’s best album to date! The tour will be with White Whale Records label-mate, Eamon McGrath.

Here’s a sneak preview of one of the new songs, which is one of the softer ones on the album.

Ten Dollar Tales Premier – this Saturday!

March 18, 2010

The Ten Dollar Tales *Revue
2010 (C. Aldo, M. Sfalcin, J. Doherty, N. Ramaswaran) PG, 75 min

TEN DOLLAR TALES, the critically acclaimed, low budget, cult TV series from Windsor Ontario, has now come to town to contaminate the minds of Toronto film goers. Still cranking out their usual brand of zany, offbeat science fiction and horror, The Revue CINEMA is proud to unveil three, never before seen episodes, guaranteed to dazzle and delight. Who, is crazy enough to create a ten million dollar science fiction trilogy with a mere budget of $10 dollars? The TEN DOLLAR TALES movie group, that’s who! Featuring the usual cast of hacks and slackers, catch all the action – Saturday March 20th, Doors at 9:30pm, Feature begins at 10:00pm! Admission $10

I recorded the soundtrack with Christian Aldo on Sunday evening, which was created entirely with his voice. Here’s a sample:

Gotta Strike While The Iron Is Hot

March 15, 2010

The Job played the Hi-Hat Recordings Canadian Music Week showcase with Corpusse and Spookey Ruben on Saturday night. Corpusse is like a black metal Divine crossed with Suicide. I think his act is amazing and he should star in an episode of Ten Dollar Tales.

I wore a skull mask for our set in honor of Corpusse, so I asked him to anoint me with fake blood just before we went on. It was my 7th show playing in the Job and I think it might’ve been our best live set so far!

The GLOP! spaceship in my backyard was destroyed by the rain on Thursday. Come see it in-tact on the big screen this Saturday at the Revue Cinema for the Ten Dollar Tales Trilogy Premier.

I got all 12 issues of SPIN Magazine from 1986 in the mail last week. Vol 1 Number 9 – Vol 2 Number 8. So far they’re even better than I’d expected them to be, I’m excited to read them all.
