Happy Halloween 2012!

October 31, 2012

Happy Halloween! I got the new 159 Manning Coat of Arms mounted yesterday afternoon, just in time!

Check out this picture I took of Mike Nelson as Jimi Hendrix and Cassandra Lynn as Jimi’s hairdresser. The shoot was Mike’s concept, and he organized everything. Gregory Macdonald was the Stylist.

We did the shoot in Buffalo on my birthday. I think we got pretty close to the original!

Last night’s Choir!Choir!Choir!: Halloween Edition was a huge success! We sang Ozzy Osborne – Bark At The Moon.

The recording of Bark At the Moon isn’t uploaded yet, so you should listen to us singing Don’t Stop Believin’. Don’t stop believing in Halloween!!

Daveed dressed as Stevie Nicks is almost as sexy as Bugs Bunny dressed up like a woman.

I didn’t have a “costume” per se, but I figured my Balinese Theatre Mask for what it lacks in representing a specific personality, makes up for it in SCARRYYY.

Cheese Sandwich!

Binders Full Of Women!

Dead Buffy!

About a dozen female choir singers dressed in drag as Sexy Daveed or Sexy Nobu. Will the real Dabu Choirman please stand up?

After the costume contest, we had a fisting competition! Guess who won??

Here’s a Halloween song for you:

The 3 Stigmata of Palmer Eldrich

October 29, 2012

I made a crest to hang on the front of the house.

I finished reading the 3 Stigmata Of Palmer Eldrich last night. I really like Philip K Dick’s writing, since his work tends to involve themes that have played key roles in my life like mental-illness, Christianity, time-travel, identity transformation, and Speed.

I also read the newly released A Wrinkle In Time graphic novel last week. It’s a quick enjoyable read.

Mattyfest 3.0 (?) happened at P&L last night, with performances by Deloro, Baby Eagle, Quest For Fire and Ladyhawke. I heard an unconfirmed rumor that it might’ve been QFF’s last show? I guess they found the fire.

I went to 7 or 8 of the first 10 QFF shows, and I like to think of myself as having played a small role in the band even just as a friend and fan, observing the cycle from birth through death of a great band. Their set at the 159 Manning New Years Eve Party 3 years ago is one of my favorite moments I’ve had in this house, which may have been influenced by the fact I was peaking on MDMA when I shot this video…

…it was something you might call an ecstatic experience.

Anxiety

October 26, 2012

I wrote, recorded and performed a new song today called Anxiety! 30 seconds long, all chorus. To quote Dabu; LISTEN TO THE FUCKING SONG!!

Thanks for listening! Just for shit ‘n’ giggles, here’s some old scans from 1995-96. To see the larger versions, right/double click and select “view image”.

If i have the cash to spare, I may indulge myself in summer of 2015 and have $3 basement party pressed to vinyl for it’s 20th anniversary. I wonder what’s the fewest possible number of copies I can have pressed, because I’m 110% sure that less than 9 people would give a flying fuck about owning a copy even if I were to give them away for free. Trust me, that’s NOT false humility…but I’m okay with being my own #1 fan.

34

October 23, 2012

I turned 34 years old on Friday! I’m very grateful to the Universe for my health. Health if everything, so in that sense I’m a rich man. If you were to ask me what I’m most proud of what I’ve done with these 34 years, it’s that I’ve been true to myself and continuously zealously pursued the things in life that I’m interested in, working with the intent of achieving mutually beneficial relationships and transactions, rather than aiming to take what I want at the expense of others. I’m still single and childless, with no long-term commitments to anyone or anything. I’m a free-agent in all areas of my life, and the future is still wide open! That, and I’m proud of telling all my old friends who I used to let treat me like shit to fuck off and to never look at me or speak to me again. NO FORGIVENESS FUCKERS! You’re delusional idiots who’ve convinced yourselves that it’s “cool” and clever to be a lazy selfish asshole (or any 1 of those 3)? Pathetic. You’re welcome to kill yourselves, but I won’t be at your funerals because you’re already dead to me. FUCK. YOU. FOREVER.

Want to know who IS nice to me? SLOAN! They’re always SO nice to me, I don’t even understand it. They put me on a Grayhound bus Friday morning to come out to Buffalo to spend my birthday with them. Aww thanks guys!

…but my name is Tim, not Jay. Whatever, close enough! I’ll take whatever love I can get. Before the show Gregory, Mike and their friend Cassandra did a photo-shoot with me in the hotel recreating a picture of Jimi Hendrix with Mike as Jimi. I’m not finished photoshopping the final pic, but here’s a shot from the prep:

The band played 2 sets. The first one was Twice Removed from start to finish, and the second set was greatest hits, including songs from last years album the Double Cross. Still writing the hits 21 years in, and best of all it’s always been on their own terms. FTW! Here’s some pics from the show!

BTW, see that backdrop with the drum painted on it? I sewed it, Andrew painted it. We all had a little party on the tour bus after the show.

Yep, that’s a banana taped to the ceiling. Chris Murphy does not like bananas! …but he does like steamed broccoli.

I slept on the tour bus and we got back into Toronto around 10am. What an amazing way to spend my birthday! Saturday was a write off. Choir!Choir!Choir! sang at Soupstock at 11am Sunday morning.

George was MCing so he finally got to see us perform! Every bit as positive and mind-blowing as I promised, non? George, I still think you should have C!C!C! take over the entire audience of a GS Tonight taping, and incorporate it into that days show.

Hopesmoker

October 16, 2012

Craig (guitar), Isis (bass) and I (drums) have started a progressive stoner rock band in the vein of Monster Magnet – Tab 25 and Sleep – Dopesmoker. I want to recreate this photo for our press shot. Craig will be the good looking guy on the left, I’ll be the weird guy in the middle and Isis will be the guy with the dreads.

None of our songs are going to be less than 3 hours long, so the only way you’ll be able to hear the songs in the way they’re truly meant to be heard is on a new format of vinyl I’m going to invent that will be 4 feet wide in diameter.

Metz had their Sub-Pop record release show part deux at Parts & Labour on Sunday night, with S.H.I.T., Young Mother and Burning Love.

Isis did an interview with Hayden after the show. I shot all the footage, she edited Monday afternoon. That girl works quickly!

I’ve got the first 2 of the 3 7″‘s Metz have released in the past few years. I would be willing to part with them for $100 each, but not a penny less. Buy either one and I’ll sweeten the deal and throw in a free The Man Who Was Thursday 7″.

Monday night was DIScONNECT annual Fashion Film Fest #5 at the Hoxton. I was the production manager for compiling the official reel and helped out on-site at the event.

This was my 3rd DIScONNECT and the films keep getting better every year! This year was strictly a showcase for the film directors and celebration of fashion films as a medium, rather than a competition like last years event. They had over 400 people in attendance which I think is particularly impressive/insane on a Monday night. KILLING IT!!! Fashion Magazine will be posting 8 of the 9 entries later this week. I recommend checking them out!

LIONESS peformed after the feature reel was shown. #nofilter

I like Vanessa’s Jeffrey Campbell boots.

Friday Night, Saturday Morning

October 13, 2012

I delivered magazines yesterday during the day and was at P&L at night for the Beta Frontiers and Humans show.

I got up this morning, returned the van and came home to play piano for an hour.

I’m learning a new song. My voice is very deep in the morning when I’m hungover.
