I’m very excited for Halloween weekend! I’ve got 3 totally different shows lined up 3 nights in a row. Costumes are encouraged (though not required) all 3 nights.
On Thursday October 29th, Good Enough LIVE KARAOKE will be doing what we do best; 4 hours of open-call karaoke at Supermarket in Kensington Market. We’ll be releasing our Spaghetti Incident inspired t-shirt that night (see previous post).
On Devil’s night, Friday October 30th we’re getting the original 4 members of the band back together (me, Jesse, Craig, and Fraser) to do select cuts from Descendents’ – Milo Goes To College with Chris Murphy for Death To T.O. (also see previous post). It’s the 5th year of the annual party, and my first time performing there since Children In Heat covered the Misfits, headlining the first of 2 nights during the inaugural year. Here’s an article I was interviewed for in the Onion from that first year, October 2011. Click the pic to enlarge.
Finally on Halloween proper, Saturday October 31st, Fill Spectre will be playing at Soybomb! I’ve hired Jason Wydra and Paul Mack from Soybomb to cover sound-tech duties at the last 2 years’ 159 Manning BBQ’s during NXNE. It’s a big task and they each did a brilliant job both times. I feel like we’ve got big mutual respect and understanding for each other, each running untraditional/D.I.Y. venues for just over a decade now. At any rate, everyone in the band is pumped to play there, especially on Halloween. It’s the perfect vibe with which to share our music. From the event description: Fill Spectre – these guys channel the true dark heart of rock’n’roll. a rare treat for soybomb to have gems like this!
Last week, a number of musicians were posting lists on FB of 30 bands they’d shared a stage with. I did not attempt to make that list BUT it got me wondering if I could make a list of 30 musicians who’d played a full show with Good Enough LIVE KARAOKE since we started in Dec 2013. I got stumped at 24 musicians, but if I add the hosts who each put in an hour at our show at Yonge-Dundas Square back in June, that makes 29!! Close enough!

I’m the only member of the band who has played every single Good Enough LIVE KARAOKE show. Jesse Bellon, Del Cowsill and Eric Woolston each come in 2nd place-ish for most-shows-played, Craig Mailman, Fraser McEvoy and Alan Snoddy coming in together for a close 3rd. I think everyone else has played somewhere between 1 and 5 shows with us.
